Internship student Chemical Engineering bij Sabic Innovative Plastics-in-Sittard-Geleen (Nederland Banen Engineering Techniek R&D)

Department On the site Geleen we have a clear split between Running Business (short term focus) and Site Improvements (long term focus). As well Running Business as Site Improvements are divided into Polymers and Chemicals & Intermediates (C&I). Site Services supports all these departments. Running Business is responsible for a safe and maximum production. Site Improvements is responsible for the right suggestions to improve the production process, including process integrity and safety, and for the implementation of the suggestions. The purpose for Site Services is to service all departments in an efficient, transparent and customer friendly way. For the department Running Business C&I Olefins 3 (Ole3) we are offering an internship. Ole3 produces ethylene and propylene, these products are processed further by other plants on site. At Ole3 about 120 operators are working 24/7 in a 5 shift system. The Challenge Next to the main products ethylene and propylene, Ole3 also produces several other products e.g. hydrogen, methane, propane, raw C4 and py-gas. Py-gas is processed in the IFP-1 and IFP-2 units which are part of the Ole3 production site. The IFP-1 and IFP-2 units produce the end products benzene and TX-Cut. Py-gas is also produced by olefins 4 (Ole4), the second cracker on the Geleen site. At the Ole4 production site an IFP-1 unit is situated as well. Both IFP-1 units (Ole3 and Ole4) are different. One of the differences is the start-up procedure for the IFP-1 reactor. The procedure of IFP-1 Ole4 is less complicated and takes less time compared to the procedure that is used for start-up of the reactor at IFP-1 Ole3. The goal of this internship is to analyze both Ole3 and Ole4 start-up procedures. From this a proposal has to be made for adjusting the Ole3 procedure in order to achieve a procedure with the same advantages as the procedure of Ole4. Your Profile We are looking for a student Chemical Engineering at university (Master) or HBO (Bachelor), which is eager to apply his/her theoretical knowledge and develop his/her practical skills in a manufacturing environment.
