The Bacterial Vaccines department of Janssen Vaccines & Prevention that is situated in Leiden performs discovery and early development on novel vaccines to prevent bacterial infectious diseases. For this department we are looking for an associate Scientist to support the design, production and characterization of carbohydrate-protein conjugates and peptide -protein conjugates.
Your main responsibilities will be: o Producing and evaluating carbohydrate-protein conjugates in small-scale experiments, including physico-chemical analysis. o Data acquisition and evaluation. o Daily operation and maintenance of equipment. o Work will be performed under supervision of a Scientist We are looking for a professional with the following background:
Msc in a relevant discipline such as organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields.
At least 2 years of relevant working experience
Previous experience working with carbohydrates, simple organic reactions, and (bio) chemical analysis (e.g. HPLC) is preferable.
Experience with labelling and HPLC analysis of glycans / glycoproteins
Protein labeling skills and knowledge about chemical modifications of proteins
Experience with transfections / cloning is an advantage
We are looking for highly driven, critical and assertive candidates
Fluent in English / Dutch. (Fluent in Dutch is an advantage)
